The organization started in July 2018 and was successfully registered as an NPO in 2019. We have also started a play at the Pretoria state theatre about Itumeleng Selepe and the fight against drug and substance abuse.
WORD ON THE STREET
Word on the street is an Anti-Substance abuse organization aiming to assist addicts to overcome their habits by taking them to a rehabilitation centers. Thus far, word on the street has managed to help over 53 (plus) individuals to various rehabilitation centers across the country. The founder of word on the street is Itumeleng Selepe, a recovering drug addict who was addicted to cocaine and cat for 11 years. Itumeleng has now been clean for 5 years. As a recovering addict himself, Itumeleng knows the life on the drug streets, he is able to relate to the addicts, meet them at their level and assist them with starting their journey of recovery.
